The 2011 Wenatchee River Festival is shaping up as one
of the largest gatherings of white water enthusiasts in
Washington this coming June.
One
new goal for 2011 is encouraging the diversity of both
participants and paddle crafts. There will be plenty of
opportunities for people to get their craft on the river
whether it be a kayak, raft, stand-up paddle board, or
boogie board with events such as downriver races,
freestyle events, and clinics. Last year’s event
included paddlers ranging in age from 12 to 50 years
young with a large contingency of women boaters making
up 40% of the on-water participants.
The festivities continue Saturday evening, June 11th, with the ever-popular raffle and auction where proceeds will
go to support the conservation efforts of American
Whitewater.
The
Wenatchee River Festival reaches out to the public with
the goals of increasing awareness of river conservation,
access and safety issues in the Pacific Northwest.
Please join us at this year’s festival the weekend of
June 11th on the Wenatchee River near Cashmere, WA.
